The Final Journey

I took two funerals in June, where the deceased’s final journey was by horse-drawn hearse.

The horses were so calm, controlled, and seemingly ‘bomb-proof’ with their elegant ostrich plumes. The hearse itself was so finely polished and beautifully maintained. It is a stately way to arrive at one’s final destination.

This is a brief post to document the experience and my connection with the highly professional Acorn Carriage Hire, who have provided wonderful beasts, carriages, and drivers.

‘Mrs. Daffodil Digresses’ post about Hearse Horses 1860 – 1911 is an interesting read about the Victorian era and is worth delving into.
